Soon is a coach, educator, and director of corporate boards.

Soon coaches individuals who wish to live a deep and fulfilling life – and to make a difference to the people and the world around us.

Soon has over two decades of experience that spans coaching, business, and government. He started as an entrepreneur developing his business plan in a dorm room at Harvard, then championed entrepreneurship and economic development in a governmental role, and is now a coach and educator to developing individuals that would make a difference.

Soon has been serving on the boards of public and private companies across Asia Pacific — including being the former chairman of a publicly listed Asian company with market capitalization of US$1.2 billion. He was a council member in the APEC Business Advisory Council from 2016 to 2017.

Most recently, Soon was CEO of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) which is a central government agency to grow and diversify the national economy by attracting investment into the nation – he now remains on BEDB’s international advisory board. Before that, Soon was CEO of Darussalam Enterprise, Brunei’s main government agency for developing entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises, and national industrial sites. He was a founding chairman of Seri Venture Capital, an investment firm that helps develop local companies that have ambitions in regional expansion. He is currently an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration).

Soon was a Regional Vice President for the AXA Group, where he worked on business development and strategy for the Asia Pacific region, which spanned 11 countries with over US$ 9.5 billion of annual business.

Soon started his career in technology and co-founded a technology company in Silicon that raised over US$ 37 million of venture capital.

In his personal capacity, Soon has been an adjunct faculty and visiting professor in universities in the region, including the Singapore Management University, Nanyang Technological University, University of Brunei Darussalam, and Universiti Technologi Brunei where he served on the university’s international advisory panel. Soon was awarded top ten business adjunct faculty members while teaching at the Singapore Management University. Soon also mentors young executives both professionally and personally. He co-founded the Passion Unleashed Talk Series in Singapore that features leaders including minister of state, chairmen of listed companies, celebrities, world’s extreme endurance race athletes, and climbers of Mt Everest.

Soon was awarded the prestigious “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World” (TOYP) award by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) and received the honour at Rio de Janeiro for 2013-14. With over 30 years in the current form, the JCI TOYP award aims to recognize active world citizens who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change in society. Past recipients of the awards includes Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy, and Jackie Chan, all named before the age of 40.

Soon holds a master degree from the Harvard Business School.
